There are a bunch of great benefits being part of the Linara Travel team. Traveling to the Maldives on a regular basis is certainly one of them.
The kids have been dropped off at ‘Gran and Grampys’ (thanks heaps) and we headed to the Adelaide airport.
Check-in done with incredible speed, coffee at our favourite outlet in the airport ‘Cocolat’ and through passport control and the trip is underway.
Adelaide to Singapore is a regular route for my travels these days so the 7 hours goes by in no time. A couple of movies, a nap and Singapore airport is upon us.
Singapore airport is by far one of my favorites. There is a lot to see. Cathie got a quick haircut and her nails done. We also ended up at one of her favourite shops – Desigual.
Now with the carry-on bag slightly fuller than it was when we left home we headed to our gate for the short 4 hour flight to the Maldives.
After landing in Male and stepping off the plane to head down the stairs you get hit with the warmth in the air. It’s a beautiful thing and it is such a great feeling.
Passport control and luggage collection complete (in island time) we head into the arrivals hall and we are warmly greeted by our One&Only Reethi Rah representative. For this trip we have our first 3 nights at One&Only Reethi Rah.
One&Only Reethi Rah have recently upgraded their fleet of transfers boats. They are simply spectacular.
Cruising at around 27 knots the boat ride is very smooth. Sitting on the top deck on the comfortable beanbags with the wind in your hair is the perfect way to start your trip. The journey is around 45 minutes and so the trip out to the resort has now been shortened by approximately 25 minutes.
We are greeted in style by our friend at Reethi Rah, Scott Leroi, the Director of Sales with a glass of Louis Roederer Cristal Champagne before being whisked off to our spectacular Beach Villa with Pool.
The first morning of our trip is clear, blue sky, hot and sunny. Just what you would expect from the Maldives. The Beach Villa with Pool is even more spectacular during the day.
Cycling to breakfast the first morning I am hugely impressed as to how neat and tidy the island is. The pristine nature of all the gardens and paths is a huge credit to the management and maintenance staff. It’s an absolute joy to be here.
Cathie is looking forward to an afternoon of diving while I will be heading to the beach club for some snorkeling and sea kayaks before the sun-downer drinks and cocktail party and Fanditha tonight.
Until the next instalment –
