Mauritius Overview

Feb-24-2012 By Administrator

Mauritius is located in the Indian Ocean approximately 560 miles East of Madagascar. A volcanic island, almost completely surrounded by coral reef, Mauritius yields beautiful views both above and below the water. Many amazing resorts are located on the island and thus competition has bread even better service and amenities. From world-class golf, to an array of water activities, to heavenly spas, almost every activity exists on Mauritius. Mauritius is great for families, honeymoons, anniversaries, and add-ons to Southern African Safaris.

Mauritius is a fusion of cultures, with Indian, French, African, and British influences. These cultural influences gave rise to exceptional cuisine and a diverse group of nice, fun-loving people.

When To Go
Mauritius tends to be cooler from June to September. The weather can get into the low 70’s in the middle of the Mauritian winter. As the weather is cooler during this time, rates are less expensive and great deals can be had. From November to May the weather tends to be hotter and this is a more popular time to visit Mauritius and thus rates are more expensive. Scuba Diving is best from December-March as the water tends to be clearer. Big game fishing peaks from October to March. Like many destinations, the peak travel season falls around Christmas and New Years so prices are much higher during this period.

Getting to Mauritius
Mauritius has become easily accessible from many locations around the World. Flights from Europe to Mauritius are quite common with Paris and London being the most popular originating cities. Mauritius is also a very popular add-on to a Southern African safari and flights from different cities in South Africa are frequent. Regular flights leave from Singapore, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Australia, Dubai, Qatar, and Seychelles amongst others.
